A Mentone man has been handed a Community Corrections Order for running over a senior constable and damaging two emergency service vehicles.

Fawad Raoofi, 28, was asleep and drug-affected in a Heatheron McDonald’s car park in August 2015 when police approached to assist him.

CCTV footage captured him reverse into two emergency vehicles, before running down Senior Constable Luke Bolger.

Following a ten-month police investigation, Raoofi was handed a two-year Community Corrections Order in the Dandenong Magistrates Court today.

He pleaded guilty to four charges, including assault and theft of a motor vehicle.

Magistrate Tony Parsons took note of Raoofi’s remorse and rehabilitation in his sentencing.

He was also handed a two-day ban on driving - a reduced time to allow him to drive his cancer-stricken mother to treatment.

“I don’t think it’s fair while you’re making a contribution to your mother’s welfare… that her life becomes any worse,” Magistrate Parsons said.

Raoofi will undergo drug and alcohol treatment and regular mental health check-ups.
