A teenager has been rescued by fire crews after becoming stuck in the dog door of her Melbourne home.

The 18-year-old, identified only as Tayla, said her parents urged her to crawl through the dog door of their Templestowe home after discovering they were locked out last night.

"My parents accidently locked the wrong part of the door," Tayla said.

"They asked me to go through the dog door, but I got stuck half way.

"I knew I wasn’t going to get out."

Fire crews were called to help free the red-faced teen from the small space.

Tayla wasn’t injured, but is understandably a bit embarrassed.

"When I was younger I fit through!" she said.

"Never again!"
