Four people have been arrested after a man was shot in in Heidelberg West, Victoria.
The offender has not yet been apprehended, Victoria Police confirmed to 9NEWS, but the four people arrested are assisting them with their inquiries.
The victim is reportedly not co-operating with police and provided a false name.
Detective Paul Topman told reporters the attack was “not random”, despite full details remaining unclear.
“No one has actually told us what occurred at this address at this point in time,” Detective Topman told reporters.
“We believe the offenders, if more than one, and the victim are known to each other.
“I want to reiterate we do believe the incident wasn’t random.”
Authorities allege the victim was shot in the shoulder outside a property on Malahang Parade about 9am.
He was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital and remains in a serious but stable condition.
Investigations are ongoing.
