NASA unveils ‘Galaxies of Horror’ on Halloween

In keeping with the Halloween theme, NASA has showcased some of the spookiest ‘Galaxies of Horror’ in the universe.

NASA calls the six “destinations” some of the “most terrifying and mind-blowing in our galaxy”.

Rains of Terror on Exoplanet HD 189733b

On this far-off planet, NASA said winds blow up to 5,400mph (or 2km per second). This causes the rain to whip so hard, it would feel like sharp glass hitting you.

Eternal Darkness on TrEs-2b

If you’re afraid of the dark, this planet is not for you. TrEs-2b is eternally dark.

The Twilight Zone on 55 Cancri e

This two-faced planet has a lava-filled day side and a night side that is permanently dark.

Monster Mash on Wasp 12 b

A doomed planet, which is currently being eaten alive by its star.

Zombie Worlds on Pulsar planets

If you can’t stand the rotting flesh of zombies, than these dead worlds, shambling around their corpse star, are not for you.

Kepler’s Inferno on Kepler 70 b

Hotter than the sun, this Freddy Krueger-like planet holds the title of the hottest world discovered so far.
