Severe thunderstorm warning for damaging winds and large hailstones issued for parts of southeast Queensland

A severe thunderstorm warning for damaging winds and large hailstones has been issued for parts of southeast Queensland.

The Bureau of Meteorology predicts severe thunderstorms will soon hit Ipswich, Esk and the area northwest of Esk.

Large hailstones have already hit the suburb of Moggill, west of Brisbane's CBD.

"Hammered out in the west," social media user Quentin Hull captioned a photograph of the deluge.

A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett and Southeast Coast districts.
