The father of murdered teacher Stephanie Scott was laid to rest today at the same venue his daughter would have been married.

Robert Scott, 59, died on November 1 on his property in Canowindra, NSW after being struck by a falling tree.

His death came just 18 months after his daughter was raped and murdered by Vincent Stanford, who was last month sentenced to life in prison for the heinous crime.

Mourners paid their respects to Mr Scott at a funeral service held today at Eat Your Greens, Eugowra.

It was the same venue Ms Scott was set to marry her fiancé Aaron Leeson-Woolley in April 2015.

Just weeks before his death, Mr Scott sat with his wife, Merrilyn Scott and watched as their daughter’s killer was put behind bars for life.

Mr Scott was described as a “much loved husband for 38 years to Merrilyn. Loved brother, brother-in-law and uncle to all his family,” in an announcement published in the Central Western Daily.

Tributes poured in for Mr Scott, a former teacher, with many ex-students expressing their grief on social media.

"RIP Mr Scott. One of the best teachers I had at school! Can't believe this," former student Jordi Bailey Brown wrote on Facebook.

Another ex-student, Emily Rose Bermingham, described him as her "school mentor, my year advisor, my teacher, a family friend and not to mention my best friend".
