The Simpsons has given a nod to their prediction 16 years ago that Donald Trump would become the US president.
The opening sequence for today's episode of the iconic animated series shows Bart Simpson writing his usual tongue-in-cheek phrase on a school chalkboard.
“Being right sucks,” Bart repeatedly scrawls, referring to the eerily accurate episode in which Mr Trump caused turmoil as the president.
“Bart to the Future”, which aired in 2000, featured Bart taking a glimpse into a future in which his sister Lisa is the US president.
As the country’s first female leader, Lisa is tasked with the job of cleaning up after her predecessor Mr Trump.
“As you know, we’ve inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump,” she says to her advisors.
