Police are satisfied a third person was not involved in the deaths of an ex-bikie and his former girlfriend on the Gold Coast.

Bronson Ellery, known to police as "Lizard Man" for his prominent facial tattoos, and Shelsea Schilling were discovered dead in a Southport unit on Friday.

A media report on Sunday had suggested police suspected the pair had been murdered despite initial suggestions Ellery had killed Schilling and then himself.

Detective Inspector Mark Thompson said police didn't believe anyone else had a role to play.

"Police conducted extensive forensic examinations of that scene which didn't conclude until this morning and have left us now in a position to be able to say to the public that we are not looking for a third person to be involved in this," Det Insp Thompson said.

Autopsies on the pair have been completed and police are analysing them to determine cause of death.

Det Insp Thompson wouldn't confirm a note found at the scene was a suicide note but did say it had helped police in their investigations.

"We have located a note and it gives us an indication as to how things have occurred," he said.

A report is being prepared for the coroner and the families of those involved are being fully briefed, Det Insp Thompson added.
