South Australian Treasurer Tom Koutsantonis and Liberal MP Rob Lucas have exchanged digs in an awkward on-camera encounter this afternoon.
As Mr Koutsantonis conducted an interview outside Parliament House, the pair traded barbs on the future of the state's Premier Jay Weatherill.
Mr Lucas told Mr Koutsantonis "we hear Jay's in trouble", to which the Treasurer replied with a crack about Mr Lucas's attire.
"You know when Rob gets a new suit, which is about every 20 years, you know he's running for the leadership," Mr Koutsantonis said.
The Liberal MP in turn praised Mr Koutsantonis's choice of tie, saying it showed he was moving "away from Jay".
Mr Koutsantonis expressed his support for Mr Weatherill and described him as being "bold, brave (and) prepared to ask difficult questions of the people of SA."
"The Cabinet is as one," Mr Koutsantonis said.
"We are united behind Jay."
Mr Weatherill recently proposed a statewide referendum over the building of a high-level nuclear waste dump in South Australia’s north.
