Joe's mother addressed the media a short time after he was found, and said the three-year-old is in good spirits.
"Joe is safe and well, already pestering his sister and most importantly reunited with his Christmas tree," she told reporters.
WA Police earlier released photos of Joseph, who was in the backseat of the car at the time of the robbery.
They also sent an emergency message to more than 250,000 people in the area with details of the vehicle.
Residents who saw the car called triple zero and police were able to track its location.
Police believe the thief stole the car without knowing the child was inside.
The theft happened when his parents returned home and briefly stepped away from the vehicle with its motor still running as they didn't want to wake him.
