Mick Fanning surfs under Northern Lights in new Red Bull film

Braving the freezing waters of a Norwegian break, Mick Fanning has capped off his year away from competition by surfing under the Northern Lights.

Three-time ASP world champion Fanning was joined by photographers Emil Sollie, Mats Grimsaeth and Trevor Moran, and filmmaker Matt Kleiner as part of Red Bull’s Chasing the Shot series.

“Technically, this is one of the hardest pictures to capture,” Mr Sollie said.

Fanning told Red Bull the experience was “something I’ll remember forever”.

Two episodes of Chasing the Shot which detail the whole trip will be available early next year.
