A man has been taken to hospital with suspected chest and abdominal injuries after a seven-car smash in Sydney's inner east.
The 71-year-old was driving through the Cross City Tunnel on Friday afternoon when his Mercedes struck a Volkswagon Gulf, police say.
They say the Mercedes continued into Bayswater Road where it hit a parked Audi and a Ford Ranger utility.
Despite the front right wheel being torn from his car, he careened head-on into a Ford Fiesta before both cars smashed into a parked ute and a BMW.
The man -- who was the only person injured -- was taken to St Vincents Hospital with suspected chest and abdominal injuries.
