Total fire ban declared for parts of South Australia as dry, hot weather hits state

A total fire ban has been declared for parts of South Australia as very hot and dry conditions hit the state.

Where the bans have been declared, very hazardous fire weather conditions are predicted for Monday.

Temperatures are set to peak near 40C in the regions including North West Pastoral, North East Pastoral and the West Coast.

Thunderstorms and isolated showers are expected to come with a cool change.

The CFS recommends residents in areas where bans have been declared implement their Bushfire Survival Plan.

Fire ban and fire danger rating advice for Monday:

Northwest Pastoral - Very High

Northeast Pastoral - High

West Coast - Severe

Eastern Eyre Peninsula - Severe

Lower Eyre Peninsula - Severe

Flinders - Very High

Mid North - Severe

Mount Lofty Ranges - Severe

Adelaide Metropolitan - High

Yorke Peninsula - Severe

Kangaroo Island - Very High

Riverland - Very High

Murraylands - Severe

Upper South East - Severe

Lower South East - Severe
