Dumped One Nation candidate Shan Ju Lin says being dropped from the party has come as a "complete surprise" and nominated Pauline Hanson's chief-of-staff as the reason for her disendorsement.

Ms Lin, who was dropped as the candidate for Bundamba yesterday after posting "gays should be treated as patients" on Facebook, said in a statement she had been given no opportunity to speak directly to Senator Hanson, who can only be contacted through James Ashby.

"I would suggest that the alleged issue was far more important to Mr Ashby than the membership or executive of One Nation," Ms Lin said today.

Ms Ju Lin is understood to be overseas in Taiwan, but has responded to the news by thanking her supporters.

“No matter what happened, I will continue to hold the values that we are holding,” she wrote on Facebook.

Ms Ju Lin had posted homophobic material to her Facebook page, alongside a 2015 article about a gay British couple on trial for allegedly abusing their children.

"Abnormal sex behaviour leads to abnormal crime. Gays should be treated as patients, they need to receive treatments,” Ms Ju Lin wrote.

Ms Ju Lin, who arrived in Australia in 1991, last month made headlines after empathising with party leader Pauline Hanson’s 1996 claim that Australia would be swamped by Asians.

One Nation has previously suggested that same-sex marriage could lead to child marriage.

In 1996, Ms Hanson told 60 Minutes she believed homosexuality was “unnatural”.
