Two Queensland police constables have been stood down from official duties after allegedly using a police-issued Taser as part of a late-night drinking game.

The Atherton-based constables, aged 31 and 41, will be performing non-operational duties while an internal investigation takes place.

The pair are understood to have been drinking at a party when they allegedly returned to the station and removed a Taser from a weapons storage safe.

They then allegedly used the Taser as part of a "truth-or-dare" style drinking game in which they shocked each other with the weapon.

"The officers are the subject of an internal investigation that whilst off-duty they improperly used a conducted energy weapon (Taser)," a Queensland Police spokesperson said.

"In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when an officer faces serious allegations of misconduct."

"This does not mean that the allegations against the officers have been substantiated."

Queensland Police are asking anyone with information to contact them via PoliceLink on 131 444.
