A man has been charged with the murder of a young Queensland mother who disappeared in Innisfail almost seven years ago.

Leann Maxine Lapham, 30, was last seen alive April 19, 2010, leaving a room at the Riverside Motel in Fitzgerald Street pushing her three-week-old son Bradly in a pram.

An extensive search was launched to find Ms Lapham and police issued several public appeals for help.

Late last year, police reopened the cold case and searched a tow truck yard in Mundoo after a tip-off to Crime Stoppers.

Yesterday, a 42-year-old Innisfail man was charged with one count of murder and interfering with a corpse.

The man is expected to appear in court this afternoon.

“There is an ongoing investigation and (police) continue the appeal for information about the whereabouts of Ms Lapham’s remains,” police said in a statement this evening.

Anyone with information is urged to contact local police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
