A woman has been arrested after allegedly attacking Victorian MP Jane Garrett.
Police said a 43-year-old woman suffered minor injuries after she was allegedly assaulted by a woman in Carlton while walking along Drummond Street this afternoon.
Several media outlets have reported the offender grabbed Ms Garrett's hair and attempted to push her through a window.
A 52-year-old woman was arrested tonight and is being interviewed, a police spokesperson said.
Liberal MP Margaret Fitzherbert, Greens MP Ellen Sandell and Labor candidate for Frankston City Council Steve Toms have all tweeted their support for Ms Garrett.

Ms Garrett resigned as Emergency Services Minister in June as a result of the CFA pay deal saga.
A deal was eventually endorsed by the newly-appointed CFA board last Friday.
