Passengers who boarded two recent cruises from Melbourne have been warned they were exposed to Hepatitis E while aboard.

The Department of Health and Human Services on Wednesday alerted passengers who were travelled on the Golden Princess between February 8-15 that an on board crew member had been suffering the illness at the time.

Victoria's Chief Health Officer Professor Charles Guest said passengers were at "low risk" of infection, and were unlikely to become unwell as a result of the possible exposure.
