A Melbourne bottle shop owner has been stabbed by a man allegedly attempting to steal cigarettes last night.
Police said the owner was attacked as he tried to stop the shoplifter from fleeing Sutherland Fine Wines, in Collingwood, about 11pm.
The victim, aged 39, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The offender remains on the run and investigations are ongoing.
