Man threatens Melbourne store attendant with machete over bag of chips

Police are searching for a man who allegedly swung a machete at a Melbourne shop attendant after he was confronted for attempting to steal a bag of chips.

Investigators allege the man entered a store at Melbourne’s Flinders Street Railway Station on February 12 and tried to swipe a bag of chips.

The store attendant confronted the man, who allegedly removed a machete from his backpack and swung it at him.

The attendant managed to dodge the blade without being hit.

The man and a female associate left the store and boarded a Sunbury bound train shortly after.
