A Turkish journalist brought a live television broadcast to a halt when he fainted during a political panel discussion.

TNT News presenter Abdulkadir Ünal was chatting with Justice and Development Party Deputy Chairman Mehdi Eker about constitutional amendments on March 7 when he started to feel woozy.

The seasoned reporter did not appear sick, but raised his hand to his head briefly before falling like a lopped tree off his chair.

A stunned Mr Eker leaned over and watched on as a crew member rushed to the presenter's aid before the live broadcast was cut.

Mr Ünal was picked up off the floor and regained consciousness before he was rushed to hospital.

He had reportedly been suffering from a nasty infection which wore him down and caused his collapse.
