Police investigating two sexual assaults in the Redcliffe area are hunting a man with distinctive stretched earlobe holes.

About 3.45pm on August 8, a 56-year-old woman was pushed to the ground by a man on Thompson Crescent in Clontarf, police said.

The man fled when a passer-by challenged him.

He has been described as Caucasian, aged in his 20s and about 178cm tall, with light hair and a medium build.

He also had large holes in his earlobes where spacers would have been.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a dark baseball cap, a red T-shirt, blue football shorts and white running shoes.

Police believe the assault may be linked to a similar offence on August 9, when a similarly-described man approached a 49-year-old woman near Apex Park on Hornibrook Esplanade at Woody Point about 6.50pm.

The man stepped out from behind a tree and tried to talk to the woman before exposing himself.

He had been wearing a blue hooded jumper and dark tracksuit pants.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000
