A house at the centre of a Tasmanian murder investigation has been completely destroyed in an arson attack, police say.

Launceston man Tyson Timothy Clark-Robertson, 24, was last seen on July 19 last year, but was not reported missing until March.

Police believe they found the remains of Mr Clark-Robertson in a shallow grave in the backyard of a Mayfield property, north of Launceston, on Tuesday.

Emergency services were called to the Mitchell Street home about 3.40am today by neighbours who heard banging before seeing flames.

An assessment by firefighters and police determined the fire was deliberately lit, police said in a statement tonight.

The house was completely destroyed and will have to be demolished. No one was inside at the time.

Three people have been charged in connection to Mr Clark-Robertson's murder.

A 45-year-old man is charged with murder and a 53-year-old man has been charged with being an accessory to murder.

A 19-year-old woman is charged with failing to report a killing.
