A Sydney judge is expected to decide whether a man accused of murdering a woman more than 30 years ago will be freed on bail.
Rodney Lawrence, 66, is on remand charged with the 1982 stabbing murder of 31-year-old Elizabeth Dixon.
Ms Dixon's body was found in her car in bushland at Ashtonfield, near Newcastle, in April 1982.
Lawrence has denied the murder and an alternative charge of being an accessory, and is due to face trial in November.
His lawyer Chris Bruce told a NSW Supreme Court bail hearing on Wednesday that Lawrence maintains his dead father-in-law William Phillips was the culprit.
Mr Bruce also called the murder case against Lawrence weak.
The Crown has opposed bail and Justice Elizabeth Fullerton is expected to give her decision on Thursday.
