A New Zealand man has been filmed frolicking in the water beside a wild killer whale.
A drone recorded Tim Stewart, 57, kayaking and snorkelling near the whale – also known as an orca – which nips at his feet.
The drone's operator, photographer Sam Kynman-Cole, shared the remarkable video on his YouTube page on Monday.
It has since been viewed tens of thousands of times.
Mr Stewart said he went kayaking in Army Bay after hearing of a whale pod sighting, the New Zealand Herald reports.
He said that while it was clear the whale wanted to play, he did have some concerns it would attempt to “drag” him down in the process.
Swimming within 100m of the killer whale is illegal in New Zealand waters and carries a NZ$10,000 (A$9712) fine.
