Eight people have been injured after a balcony collapsed in Yamba, 60km northeast of Grafton in NSW’s north.

A 60-year-old man was airlifted to Lismore Hospital, while two women, aged 44 and 58, and another man, 61, were also transported to Grafton and Maclean hospitals respectively.

They are all listed as stable.

Police were called to the property in Clarence Street around 8.15pm last night after reports the structure had given way.

A man who had been on the balcony at the time told The Daily Examiner they heard a weird nose shortly before it fell.

"All they did was just move to that particular spot and just collapsed. They just moved, they just dropped," he said.

Authorities arrived to find the bottom of the second-storey building had collapsed entirely.

Investigators will examine the structure today.
