A man is in a serious condition after seven people were washed off rocks on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula yesterday afternoon.

The man, aged in his 40s, was pulled from the water at Cape Schanck suffering hypothermia and breathing difficulties, an ambulance spokesman said.

He was airlifted to Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition. His remains in a serious condition.

Six others were assessed at the scene but didn't require further treatment.

Meanwhile, two divers reported missing from nearby Bushrangers Bay were winched to safety at Elephant Rock uninjured.

“It all worked very well for the outcome of the patients.”
