An Australian army member has died after being struck by a tree at a military training area near Shoalhaven, Queensland.
The soldier was taking part in a routine training exercise at Shoalwater Bay, near Rockhampton, about 8.20 am today, and was on an armoured personnel carrier.
He received first aid but died at the scene.
The ADF said the soldier’s next of kin had been notified and is receiving support from the army.
“The Army and broader ADF community extends its deepest sympathies to the soldier’s family and friends,” the statement said.
Queensland Police is investigating and is expected to prepare a report for the coroner, the ADF said.
