A woman has been arrested in connection with the murder of a brother and sister found dead in their Deception Bay home more than a decade ago.

The 34-year-old Kallangur woman was arrested today following a police investigation into the murder of April Bailey, 29 and Ian Bailey, 31.

The bodies of the pair were found on May 28, 2004 inside a home on Warren Crescent, Deception Bay.

The house had been set on fire.

It is believed they were murdered before the home was set alight.

Ms Bailey’s daughter Violet, who was four at the time, witnessed the crime.

A number of triple-0 calls were made when the house was set alight, one of them reportedly made by the young girl, ABC News reports.

At a police conference in December last year Violet made an appeal for anyone with information to come forward.

“Eleven years ago I was a witness to my own mother’s and my uncle’s murder,” she said.

“I was four at the time. No one, especially a four-year-old, should ever have to go through that.

“If you have any information… the smallest bit, please come forward.

“I’d be ever so grateful to finally know that the people who killed my mother and my uncle had been put into prison.”

The investigation was reopened last year, led by investigators from the Homicide Group alongside the Moreton District Criminal Investigation Branch.

The team used new techniques and technology to re-investigate evidence discovered at the scene.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
