Two teenage boys have allegedly been assaulted at a fast-food restaurant in Greensborough, in Melbourne’s north.

A 16-year-old boy left the store on Grimshaw and Henry Streets around 10.30pm on Friday when he was pushed from behind by an unknown man, police said.

Frightened, the boy ran back into the store and hid behind the counter.

The man then entered the store and demanded the boy hand over his mobile phone.

Another boy who worked at the store, also aged 16, was allegedly punched in the face by the man while attempting to shield the victim.

The man then jumped over the counter and wrestled the phone away from the boy and fled the scene.

Detectives believe the alleged attacker is aged in his mid-20s with a medium build and has distinct scarring on his face.

He was wearing a black hooded jumper at the time of the assault, police said.

It is believed he may have also been involved in a carjacking in the area earlier on Friday night.

A woman was driving her car along Henry Street when a man jumped in and tried to push her out of the vehicle.

He fled the scene when locals came to the victim’s assistance.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
