A Current Affair has obtained exclusive footage of an alleged ISIS-inspired terror attack in Minto.

Wayne Greenhalgh, 59, was walking through a park in Ohflsen Road in Minto about 4pm on Saturday when he was set upon by a man allegedly armed with a knife and repeatedly stabbed in his abdomen, chest and neck.

The footage, which was caught on seven different security cameras and will be aired in full on A Current Affair tonight at 7pm, shows the badly injured victim trying to escape the attack by entering a hair salon.

Customers at the salon are seen cowering in the corner as the suspect allegedly tries to get inside.

Other cameras show three men in a stand-off with the suspect on the lawn, swinging a fence paling to try and force him back.

After police arrive, the suspect allegedly chases a police car and appears to try to attack the occupants inside.

Ihsas Khan, 22, has been charged with committing a terror act and attempted murder over the alleged attack, which police said was inspired by ISIS.

Mr Greenhalgh was flown by helicopter to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition. He remains in hospital.

The Australian reports that Khan allegedly told police 15-year-old Farhad Khalil Mohammad Jabar, who shot accountant Curtis Cheng dead outside New South Wales police headquarters in Parramatta last year, was his “role model”.

The President of the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils Keysar Trad told ABC News allegations the crime was inspired by Cheng were “speculation”.

"I don't know what inspired him; there's a lot of speculation at the moment," Mr Trad said.

"Even if he was inspired by that act of violence, what this person did is terrible — it's a crime that's hurt an innocent person,” he added.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull today told Parliament attacks similar to Saturday were imminent.

"We have to recognise that we will see more of these," Mr Turnbull said.

He also referred to the September 11 terrorist attacks, and said both incidents showed examples of “heroism” in the wake of violence.
