Footy fans looking to secure finals tickets have been left furious after the AFL’s ticketing partner Ticketek experienced an outage this morning.

Fans were trying to purchase tickets for the Sydney-Adelaide and Hawthorn- Bulldogs semi-final games, which went on sale at 9am, when the system unexpectedly crashed.

Ticketek acknowledged on Twitter they were having delays, citing an “overwhelming demand” on the site.

“An issue with payment services affected site for less than 10 mins this morning. Issue quickly resolved, but backlog caused some delays,” Ticketek said in a tweet.

But that didn’t stop angry fans from lashing out at the company on social media, with some saying it took hours to secure tickets.

“You have 1 job and you can’t even do that!! Get it right seriously!!” one user wrote.

“Is AFL aware that we actually have to pay Ticketek a free for their continued crap service?” another said.

"Finally successful in getting tix to #AFLHawksDogs @MCG Only took 1 1/4 hours. Who do I invoice my time to?" Damon Bryan tweeted.

Ticketek also came under fire earlier this year, after fans at the MCG were unable to scan mobile tickets after the company’s mobile website crashed ahead of the seasoned opener between Richmond and Carlton.
