Police investigating the suspected murder of NSW mother Carly McBride have searched two properties in the Hunter Valley region.

The remains of Ms McBride, 31, were found near Scone on August 7.

The mother-of-two was last seen almost two years earlier on Calgaroo Grove in Muswellbrook.

Police believe she was murdered.

Officers from Strike Force Karabi, set up to investigate Ms McBride’s death, executed search warrants at a home in Muswellbrook and another at a rural property in Scone today.

"A number of items contained on the premises have been examined by forensic investigators," police said in a statement.

In an appeal a year after Ms McBride’s disappearance, her parents recalled their daughter's "big belly laugh".

"Carly was a wonderful person, a free spirit with a bubbly personality, and a terrific mother to her two children," her mother Lorraine Williams said.

Anyone with information on Ms McBride’s death is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
