Rapper Coolio has been arrested after a loaded firearm was allegedly found in a carry-on bag during a Los Angeles International Airport security screening.
LAX police were alerted this morning by the Transportation Security Administration after screeners detected a firearm in a bag, according to ABC7.
Airport police officer Alicia Hernandez said some of the contents in the bag belonged to 53-year-old Artis Leon Ivey Jr, known professionally as Coolio.
Police booked the rapper on suspicion of possession of a firearm by a felon. They detained another man who claimed the bag was his, but released him a short time later.
Coolio was later released on bail and has posted a video to YouTube thanking his fans for their support.
He referred to the incident as "a little misunderstanding at the airport today".
The Grammy Award-winning artist is best known for his 1995 hit "Gangsta's Paradise".
