The Sydney grandfather allegedly attacked by a knife-wielding man in a Sydney street has revealed his fear at facing what he thought would be his death.
Wayne Greenhalgh, 59, was walking his dog at about through a park in Ohflsen Road, Minto, last Saturday when he was attacked by a man armed with a knife who allegedly repeatedly stabbed his abdomen, chest and neck.
"I closed my eyes and I said to myself, 'I'm going now,'" Mr Greenhalgh told A Current Affair.
Security footage of shows Mr Greenhalgh trying to escape the attack by entering a hair salon.
Had it not been for the quick-thinking response of his neighbour Sivei Ah Chong and his family, Mr Greenhalgh may not have been able to escape.
Mr Greenhalgh has since reunited with Mr Chong and thanked him for his heroic effort in protecting him.
Tracy Grimshaw's full interview with Mr Greehalgh will air Monday night at 7pm on the Nine Network's A Current Affair.
