Tiahleigh Palmer's former carer has revealed the 12-year-old wanted to leave her foster family, claiming she “hated” being at the Thorburns’.
Speaking to 9NEWS, Julie Pemberton, Tiahleigh's foster mother for two years before Rick and Julene Thorburn, said the girl complained about the family from the beginning of her stay.
"I've got emails that Tiah wanted to leave their care in the first two weeks that she was sent there," Ms Pemberton said.
In February last year, Ms Pemberton told the schoolgirl's caseworker that she "hated" being at the Thorburns’, warning her she "has and will continue" to run away.
Ms Pemberton claimed Tiahleigh attempted to run away more than 10 times in the 10 months before her death.
"I would have had her back in the following week, but I couldn't get her back," Ms Pemberton said.
"Too late now, you've just got to stop it happening again."
Police will allege Tiahleigh was murdered by her foster father Mr Thorburn on the night before he claimed to have dropped her off at the school gates.
They believe he still drove the regular run to the girl’s school on the Friday morning.
Mr Thorburn, 56, had reportedly told detectives that he had last seen the 12-year-old after dropping her off on the morning of October 30.
Mr Thorburn remains in hospital but is no longer in an induced coma, following his collapse shortly after being charged with murder on Tuesday.
He will soon be transported to Wacol prison, where his 19-year-old son Trent remains.
Police ethical standards command is investigating how Mr Thorburn collapsed, amid reports he may have swallowed pills while in custody.
It has also been suggested he may have suffered a cardiac incident.
Tiahleigh's foster brother Trent Thorburn, who is facing charges of incest, perverting the course of justice and perjury, was denied bail as police outlined their case against him in court yesterday.
The girl's biological mother Cindy Palmer watched from the gallery as it was alleged he'd confessed in a Facebook Messenger conversation with a cousin that he’d had sex with Tiahleigh and feared she might be pregnant.
Police also alleged he had repeatedly lied during their murder investigation and was determined to do all he could to avoid a prison sentence for his alleged crimes.
Tiahleigh's foster mother Julene, 54, and the Thorburns' older son Joshua, 20, have also been charged with perjury and perverting the course of justice.
They are set to face court on October 10.
Child Services Minister Shannon Fentiman announced Queensland's blue card system would be reviewed following the allegations against Tiahleigh's foster carers.
Ms Fentiman also revealed the Thorburns had operated a family day care business following Tiahleigh's death until police provided intelligence in April to authorities that resulted in their approvals being revoked.
