9NEWS reporter Jerrie Demasi has lent her impressive singing skills to the new Channel 9 Perth commercial.
Demasi usually spends her time at Channel 9 chasing news stories, but her latest assignment shines a spotlight on her stunning vocal ability.
The soundtrack to the new dynamic commercial for the network is Demasi’s powerful rendition of the Nina Simone classic, “Feeling Good”.
“It’s a real privilege and was very cool to be asked,” Demasi told 9news.com.au, naming late soul singer Amy Winehouse as her main inspiration while recording the track.
A keen singer since she was a little girl, Demasi has performed as a support act for popular R’n’B singer Ne-Yo and rapper Ice Cube.
She said the confidence earned from performing in front of live audiences comes in handy as a reporter.
“It definitely takes away from the nerves when doing live crosses,” Demasi said.
Also making a striking appearance in the commercial are the new Channel 9 studios in Perth.
After more than 50 years of residence at Dianella, the 9NEWS team moved to the heart of the city last week.
“It’s awesome, state-of the art everything,” Demasi raved.
