Queensland will review its foster care system after it emerged Tiahleigh Palmer's foster father has been investigated over complaints made by two other girls.

Rick Thorburn, 56, was last week charged with the October 2015 murder of 12-year-old Tiahleigh.

Her body was found by fishermen in a river north of the Gold Coast, approximately 30km from where the Thorburns lived, a week after she went missing.

Following Tiahleigh's disappearance, police were given information by child safety officials about an adult who had previously been in Thorburn's care when they were a teenager.

"That individual's details were given to the police immediately following Tiahleigh's disappearance," Queensland Child Safety minister Shannon Fentiman told the Courier-Mail.

Thorburn is reportedly facing charges relating to two other girls, aged four and 11.

Investigators allege he killed Tiahleigh to cover up a sexual relationship she was having with his youngest son, Trent.

Trent Thorburn, 19, has been charged with incest, two counts of perjury and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

He remains in custody after being denied bail last week.

Thorburn's wife Julene, 54, and their older son Josh, 20, have been charged with perjury and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Investigators have continued scouring the Thorburns’ property, which is being considered a 'primary crime scene', for any clues.
