Two people have been charged with the murder of Western Australian woman Annabelle Chen, whose body was found in a suitcase in Perth’s Swan River in July.

A 68-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were arrested by WA Police today and formally charged.

The pair has been refused bail and is expected in appear in Perth Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Ms Chen’s badly injured, half-naked body was found by a local fisherman who pulled the suitcase onto his boat off the Aqua Rama Marina in East Fremantle on July 2.
Police released digital images of her and conducted numerous appeals, hoping to gather information from the public to identify her.

She was only identified earlier this month after her Melbourne-based daughter reported her missing.

The 57-year-old was divorced and living in Meath Mews at the time of her death.

The daughter who reported her missing said she last saw her mother alive during a visit on June 30.

Ms Chen was described as wealthy, spiritual and a talented artist who was estranged from Perth family members including her children.
