Tonight’s reviews for the NRL pre-game entertainment were mixed, with most people loving Jessica Mauboy and Keith Urban's performances.

Expectations were high for founding member of Bon Jovi Richie Sambora’s performance too, but he didn't strike quite the right note for all viewers.

Sambora, 57, was joined on stage by Australian guitarist Orianthi to sing two Bon Jovi covers.

Social media buzzed with fans and viewers sharing their thoughts during the performance.

“Richie Sambora showing why Jon was the lead singer of Bon Jovi. Just stick to the backing vocal and solid guitar riffs champ,” one person tweeted.

The criticism quickly turned to praise from most, as Urban came out to perform with Mouboy.
