Two elderly women have been rescued from their car after it was partially driven off a pier in Mordialloc, south-east of Melbourne.
Emergency services were called to Pier Road after one of the women hit the accelerator instead of the brake, causing the car to drive off the edge of the jetty, an MFB spokesman said.
Images showed the blue hatchback hanging precariously close to the water.
The driver managed to pull herself out of the vehicle, while the passenger had to be rescued by the MFB.
They did not require further medical treatment.
Bystanders used ropes and a 4WD to winch the car back to land.
Firefighters remain on the scene and a tow truck is on the way.
