Around 5,000 homes were left without power last night, after the threat of a severe thunderstorm across south-east Queensland.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe thunderstorm warning at around 7pm, but a few hours later said the "immediate threat" of the thunderstorms had passed.
Storms first appeared on the radar about 5.30pm, and hit Brisbane, Beenleigh, Logan City, Strathpine, Redcliffe, Cleveland, Moreton and Bribie islands.
More than 3,800 homes were cut off in Brisbane, and 911 homes across the Moretan Bay Regional area were also without power at the height of the storm, according to Energex.
Mount Samson, Closeburn and Yugar were some of the hardest hit areas.
Powerlines were down in Acacia Ridge, Sunnybank Hills, Sunnybank, and Eight Mile Plains in Brisbane.
Homes on the Gold Coast also experienced outages due to the severe conditions.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
