Multiple people have been injured after a ferry collided with a pontoon at Sydney’s Circular Quay Wharf this afternoon.

The Supercat ferry came in contact with the far eastern pontoon at Circular Quay as it was berthing, a NSW Transport spokesperson said.

Witnesses told 9NEWS the Watson’s Bay to Circular Quay service appeared to be travelling too fast as it was coming in to dock.

There are reports up to 18 people have suffered minor injuries.

"We just came to a huge abrupt stop," one passenger told 9NEWS.

"It’s like we hit something and I went flying forward, hit my chest against a steel bar, knocked back and someone fell on me."

"Our priority is making sure our customers are okay," NSW Transport said in a statement.

An investigation into the collision is now underway.
