Three people hospitalised with invasive meningococcal disease in Adelaide

Three people have been hospitalised after contracting invasive meningococcal disease in Adelaide.

An 18-year-old man, 29-year-old man and 71-year-old woman are in hospital in a stable condition, after they each contracted the disease in cases that are believed to be unrelated.

SA Health has identified multiple people who had contact with the patients and has instructed 17 of those people to take antibiotics.

Twenty-four cases of invasive meningococcal disease have been reported in South Australia this year.

A total of 30 cases were reported last year.
