Animal rights activists are outraged with the latest contribution to the viral mannequin challenge video craze.

The Blue Lagoon Island's Dolphin Encounter in the Bahamas have posted a video showing three motionless dolphins alongside trainers and guests.

In the video, two of the dolphins are being held by their tails.

Dolphin Project founder Ric O'Barry says the dolphins being held by their tails is hardly a sign of wilful participation.

The dolphins in this video are performing an unnatural trained behaviour called 'stationing,'" Mr O'Barry told The Dodo.

"The dolphins do this for a food reward. All of the dolphin trainers in the video are simply participating in a cheesy publicity stunt, at the dolphins' expense."

Mr O'Barry says the best thing people can do if they really want to help dolphins is to stop buying tickets to dolphin shows, such as those at Sea World and the Blue Lagoon Island in the Bahamas.
