Large great white shark spotted swimming off Victoria’s coast

A 3.5 metre great white shark has been spotted swimming near the shore at Fairhaven beach, south-west of Melbourne.

The shark was spotted between 2pm and 3pm, forcing the closure of the beach, Emergency Services Victoria announced.

Swimmers at Aireys Inlet, Big Hill, Eastern View, Lorne, Memorial Arch and Moggs Creek have been advised to stay informed and to not enter water at closed beaches.

Point Lonsdale beach has also been closed for safety reasons following a shark sighting just before 2pm.

Anyone who spots the shark is advised to call Triple Zero (000) or notify lifesavers immediately.
