Police are investigating a fire that tore through a former motel in Toowomba last night.
The Glennon House Motel caught fire about 11pm and quickly became engulfed in flames, which caused extensive damage before firefighters could get the blaze under control.
The motel had provided low-cost accommodation to people who had to travel from remote areas to Toowoomba for specialist medical care.
It closed mid-last year due to plans to build a seven-storey development on the site, according to local media.
Police are treating the blaze as suspicious, with a crime scene established at the site.
No one was inside at the time of the fire.
