Police are searching for a man who allegedly punched a store attendant and stole cigarettes from a milk bar in Preston, in Melbourne’s north.
It is believed the man entered the Victoria Street store with a knife around 11am, police said.
He then demanded cigarettes from the shop attendant and punched him in the face.
The victim also suffered a cut to the finger.
The alleged thief then fled the scene with several packets of cigarettes in a southerly direction.
Police have released an image of the man they believe is responsible for the robbery.
He is described as being in his late 20s, Caucasian and with a slim build.
